PUN is pleased to announce Pink Panther Sorority Inc. as the donation recipient of our July, 4th Portrait Pop Up at Lake Merritt.

Founded in 2014, Pink Panther Sorority Inc. is an Oakland based non-profit organization serving young girls of color by cultivating safe spaces and implementing programs for self-esteem development, self-expression, sisterhood, leadership, and the exploration of African American history.

Pink Panther Sorority Inc. founders, Nyisha Moncrease and Tamika Phillips, two former elementary school teachers started the organization after noticing a gap of camaraderie between girls and the absence of extracurricular programs in the educational system beyond sports. Moncrease and Phillips prioritize and understand the importance of exposing

inner city girls with healthy frameworks of life and guidance along the way. Through fundraising and sponsorship, Pink Panthers Sorority Inc. is able to sustain with field trips, events, and workshops as well as provide food and supplies for the girls who sign up for the sorority.
